Why do you write music?

Trombone and sheets of music“That’s easy– because I have to. It has always been a part of me, and it is just a natural form of expression. I do find it challenging and frustrating at times, but it is something I really love and enjoy doing. I guess it is my way of making sense of the world, and of my place in it. It allows me to explore so many things, since music can relate to, and encompass so much.

Perhaps it is also my way of giving back something to the world; I write to satisfy my own creative urge, but it is wonderful when other people can somehow relate to it as well.”  -EK
